Think it’s tough to make ends meet these days? In places
like Malawi, it can be an impossible task. Without access to credit, women who
work from sunrise to sunset may earn too little to feed and shelter their families,
let alone save or start a business.
For them, the chance to borrow even small amounts can lead
to a better way of life. That’s the promise of Village Savings & Loans
Associations or “VSLAs.” These groups allow women to save and lend money
collectively, so they become a bank for each other. Since 2009, we’ve helped
CARE create over 50 VSLAs in Malawi, helping women start businesses, earn new
kinds of income and, in time, lift families out of poverty.
By supporting this project, you can help send donations to CARE that
help establish VSLAs in Malawi—just by watching and
sharing the video.
