Bringing female teachers to villages

An effective project is one which its goals are well set and explained and where all parties participate with a purpose. The construction of female teacher’s house by Join My Village in Kasungu has faced little or no resistance from the participating communities because it was well planned during the project’s inception that we all have a role. POSTED BY Henry Mhango on March 23, 2012
Education

When Join My Village landed in Kasungu district way back in 2009, the first thing we did was to enter into an agreement with the Kasungu District Education Manager’s (KUDEM) office as one way of pulling each other towards a common goal; improving girls access to education in the rural areas of the district. When a girl is educated, nourished and protected, she shares her knowledge and skills with her family and community, and forever changes the future of the nation. With 20 houses that Join My Village has constructed so far, 20 schools now have female teachers in the rural areas of Kasungu district. Despite being teachers to the whole school, to some girls, these female teachers are mentors.“Mrs. Maggie Dzimwe is our class teacher but to me she is more than that, she is my mentor.   I admire...
