When Join My Village landed in Kasungu district way back in 2009, the first thing we did was to enter into an agreement with the Kasungu District Education Manager’s (KUDEM) office as one way of pulling each other towards a common goal; improving girls access to education in the rural areas of the district. Many teachers teach through commitment and experience. But behind these committed and experienced teachers, there are reference materials which require the commitment from students themselves to participate and become engrossed into learning. Zumani primary school is 53 kilometres west of Kasungu town and it is just within the edge of Kasungu National Park.  The school has an attendance of 636 students of which 302 are girls.
